Synopsis
Sexy D&D
Sakura Dungeon is a dungeon-crawling VN with RPG elements developed and published by Winged Cloud in 2016. It's the 10th game in the Sakura series and is one of the few games outright banned by name by Twitch. Sakura Dungeon was the first game released by Winged Cloud after their split with MangaGamer and team up with Sekai Project. The partnership with Sekai Project also fell apart due to "unprofessional behavior" on the part of Winged Cloud. All Sakura games are now self-published.
After being sealed away for hundreds of years, the fox spirit and former dungeon master Yomi awakes to find herself under attack from an adventurer! Ceri; the brash knight is quickly subdued and put under a spell to make her a subordinate to Yomi. The two then work together to delve deep into the dungeon, make allies, and put Yomi back in power.
The core gameplay of Sakura Dungeon will feel familiar if you've ever played a first-person dungeon crawler like Wizardry, Etrian Odyssey, or D&D (the old videogames, not the tabletop game). You explore a dungeon in the first-person perspective, solve puzzles, and fight random encounters.
The game is also heavily story-based and has long stretches of VN dialogue. There don't seem to be forking stories or different endings, as there are no dialogue options that I remember. Whenever the characters talk all of the members of your party will chime in with something to say. Even the minor characters that don't have anything to do with the story. I like that my allies aren't just a bunch of silent monster murderers.
Every character in this game is:
- A monster girl
- A lesbian
- Horny
There are no exceptions that I was able to find. Every single person you interact with has a sex scene to be unlocked. From the first monster to the final boss.
At first, the combat in the game felt tedious, but once I realized that it was skippable, it became much more tolerable. The capture mechanic was another thing that bothered me initially until I understood it better. In the early dungeons, I was always frustrated at how often the 'capture' command would fail. It was such a core mechanic to the game that I couldn't understand why it would be so fickle. Then, later in the game than I'd like to admit, I realized that all that's needed to capture successfully is for Yomi to be a higher level than the target monster. Once I realized that the game opened up to me.
Playing through this game was taking me a long time, but I couldn't force myself to rush, because exploring the dungeon floors fully felt so satisfying. There was no point at which I felt OP, so every item I could find was welcome and helpful. This game rewards exploration highly.
Horny Parts
The following is a list of Horny components in this game, in order from least horny to most horny
-
Monsters
All the monsters in the game are girls! Hot girls! And they all want to fuck Ceri!
-
Combat
As you damage your opponents, their clothing becomes more and more tattered. This is a mechanic that's in a lot of horny games, but imo it should be in every game ever made. You know... for realism?
-
Found Armor
As you explore you unlock more clothes for Yomi and Ceri to wear. Don't worry about protection, Yomi's magic can protect them! So they can wear whatever they want!
You can pick out armor and view it with the Sprite Viewer after you beat the game.
-
EVERYONE GAY
Like I said above, everyone in this world is gay, and it's awesome. You can even get gay married!
Horniest Part

Sexy Rewards
When you complete story sections, or talk to you subordinates, you often get what this game calles CG images. Up close and personal pictures of monster girls doing what they do best.
One of the common themes in this game is "hotwifing" out Ceri to other monsters.
If you don't install the free r18 patch, all of these scenes are censored. I have a hard time even picturing what some of them would even look like.
All images you unlock can be viewed in the CG gallery
Rating
Positive
Sakura Dungeon was a lot of fun to play. At first some things grated on me, but once I realized I just hadn't read the instructions properly, I started really getting into it. Playing a first person dungeon crawler still gives me a lot of nostalgia. I was worried it would end up like Persona Q (an absolute slog) but it kept it simple, didn't overplay its hand, and was respectful of the amount of time I was willing to pump into a tiddy game.
It was also much longer than I expected. My first playthrough took about 14 hours, and I was going at a pretty good clip by skipping a lot of non-story dialogue. Even now that this review is over it's calling to me to start over on the Hard difficulty. I don't think I will, but any game that makes me want to replay it is good in my book.
Additional things of Note
Yomi dropping the mad truth bombs.
